Metro Denver Coordinated Community Plan

MDHI is proud to publish the Metro Denver Coordinated Community Plan, a comprehensive community-developed action plan focused on preventing and ending youth homelessness across the region.

In 2023, the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative (MDHI) initiated a community planning process that was a required element of the Metro Denver Continuum of Care’s (CoC) application for funding through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Youth Homelessness Demonstration Project (YHDP). That process brought together a wide array of partners - government, service providers, funders, stakeholder groups, and most importantly, young people with lived experience of homelessness, who led and shaped every step of this process. As a result of these planning efforts as well as the innovative, existing projects providing housing and supports to homeless youth, the Metro Denver CoC was selected as a federally funded demonstration project to create model programs that prevent and end youth homelessness.

While the genesis of this community plan was in response to the application and eligibility requirements for YHDP funding, the collaborative planning process sparked renewed attention to the needs, voices, and strengths of youth experiencing homelessness and housing instability. This plan represents the vision of young people, service providers, government and community partners working together to advance future efforts grounded in data and evidence-based practices that best serve the diverse needs of youth in our community.

We invite you to read the full plan to learn more about the strategies and commitments to driving this work forward.
